Because of… ummm…. colonisation, it’s especially difficult to gather the needed infrastructure, supplies, and costs associated with supporting marginalised artists. Then grants are tightly controlled and accountable to the granters. In order to maintain autonomy while supporting the work of their network, Utu Ā Matimati is raising money for critical expenses such as:
- A studio space that will double as a takatāpui nebula of creation
- for publishing our upcoming magazine project
- Art supplies, printing supplies and set-up equipment
- Costs associated with paying contributors
